Three months to go before baby number two arrives so I’m trying to cram in as much work as possible before then.  Phoned the RoleplayUK office today and spoke to Anna asking if they could give me any more dates.  She said she’d do her best and added that they were waiting for confirmation on a big contract with some Fire and Rescue Service assessment days, so fingers crossed. 

So grateful RoleplayUK are still booking me for gigs despite the fact that we’re getting closer to Louise’s due date.  They’re being very fair and accommodating.  Shouldn’t be surprised really as Jill and Anna in the office have always been charming as well as super-efficient!  I suppose it helps that, if you really can’t make the gig, they’ve got loads of brilliant, experienced people on their database who are happy to step in.  

Plus I’ve been with RoleplayUK so long – coming up for seven years now.  And for five of those I’ve been doing nothing but roleplay – if you don’t count the occasional bit of voiceover work – so I suppose I’m quite useful to the company.  More available than some.  Never dreamed I’d end up being a professional roleplayer though….but you know what?  It really suits me.  I was never really comfortable with all that air-kissing and ‘darling!’ behaviour that goes on in theatre companies!  I mean, I loved the work, don’t get me wrong, but I always craved a more serious, academic side as well.  Plus with roleplay work I get to play completely different characters, learn about different organizations, different jobs, different issues and, the best bit is that the work really seems to make a difference.  I’ve definitely had people come up to me and tell me that their roleplay experience has made them look at their job in a whole new light.  Very satisfying. 

Off to take one last look at my briefs for tomorrow.  I’m playing an Italian auditor for a new client.  Don’t ask!
